Beech is back
30 January 2008

After a short absence you can go woody again
If furniture is to be truly timeless and relevant in a fast-changing world, it must continue to look good and work well.
Beech was first used by Dieter Rams at Braun in the 1950s, most famously for the celebrated record player, SK4, or Snow White’s Coffin.
Beech was selected for its easy availability and relative uniformity and was combined with the colour, off-white.
Beech and off-white were the original finish for Dieter Rams’s 606 Universal Shelving System when it was launched by Vitsœ in 1960 and we are pleased to reintroduce it.
Beech can be combined with black or off-white and is on display at 72 Wigmore Street.
Our beech is sourced from an FSC-managed forest.
