- What is Vitsœ?
60s 606 is 50
March 2011
Designed back in 1960 by a 28-year- old Dieter Rams, the 606 Universal Shelving System has achieved an important milestone: 50 years of continuous production by Vitsœ.
That’s the same product, the same designer and the same company – all still working together after 50 years. So, how has this shelving system managed to endure?
Vitsœ launches its online ‘starter collection’
April 2010
Vitsœ, the furniture company best known for the 606 Universal Shelving System designed by Dieter Rams, has launched its ‘starter collection’ that comprises four simple shelving configurations priced from £155 to £435 available to buy online at vitsoe.com.
Vitsœ’s renowned shelving system has often been referred to as “Lego for grown-ups” owing to the great flexibility in the positioning of shelves and cabinets on the elegant wall-mounted tracks. The fact that it is called a system is not accidental: you can add to it, rearrange it and, best of all, take it with you when you move.

December 2009
2009 has been a busy year for Vitsœ. The furniture company best known for the 606 Universal Shelving System designed by Dieter Rams in 1960 celebrated its 50th anniversary with the launch of a new website, development of a retail partnership within Japan and by finding a new home on the streets of New York.
Now as the year draws to a close, it is with much pride that Vitsœ opens a new shop on its native soil in London, housed off Manchester Square at 3-5 Duke Street.
