The Levi’s Workshops are a series of community-based activities created with collaboration and creative production in mind and we are delighted to have been asked to be part of their latest venture.

The Photo Workshop in New York is a temporary public facility designed to encourage and inspire professional, amateur and aspiring photographers alike.

It features a professional-grade production studio, vintage camera rental, digital design stations, exciting printing equipment, and a shop full of fisheye and spinner cameras, negative film and other quirky tools of the trade.

And where does our self-effacing shelving system find itself at home amongst all this pointing-and-shooting? Displaying those tools of the trade in the mezzanine shop onsite: good design, common sense and creativity combined.

“The 606 unobtrusively conveys exactly the purposeful, collaborative working environment that we strive to maintain at all times,” wrote the Photo Workshop team on their blog.

“It’s an ideal system for us, since we have lots of stuff to shelve [...] and there are endless ways in which to customize it to our needs.”

Open until 18 December 2010.
