“Question everything generally thought to be obvious.” Dieter Rams

A humble furniture company has settled in at the London’s Design Museum. The exhibition which began in Osaka and then moved to Tokyo has now made it to London.

Vitsœ takes it place amongst Rams’s landmark designs within this Dieter Rams retrospective ‘Less and More’ as the exhibition surveys the entire Rams’ oeuvre for Braun and Vitsœ from 1955 to now in all its awe-inspiring breadth.

It offers the perfect opportunity to scrutinize the craftsmanship and detail of the 606 Universal Shelving System, the only item of the exhibition that is still currently in production. Discreet, adaptable and built to last (long enough to become a museum exhibit) we have now been providing this ingenious kit of parts to happy customers for fifty years.

Read about the exhibition at Wallpaper.com Alongside this examination of Rams’ aesthetic the accompanying 800-page catalogue also offers a comprehensive record of his work and design ethos; a sumptuous feast with delicious new photography that fits perfectly on a 22cm-deep shelf. Now available in English/German text, it can be bought from our shop or online.

The accompanying 800-page catalogue is available in both German and English:
