Unique sale of 50 side tables to celebrate our 50th anniversary

As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, we released the last 50 original side tables designed by Dieter Rams on our birthday – 4 September 2009.

The 621 Side Table, last produced in the 1980s, was sold in its original packaging, allowing customers to buy a piece of design history.

Commissioned in 1962, the side table formed part of a range of pioneering plastic furniture produced during the post-War years. Both Niels Vitsœ and Dieter Rams saw the innovations in plastics in the ‘50s and ‘60s as the perfect opportunity to investigate a new functionality and versatility in furniture, creating pure, unobtrusive and timeless designs.

Originally sold in two different finishes – black and off-white – the table also comes in two different sizes. Both the high and low tables can be used in a number of ways and combinations or as a stand alone piece.

We released the last 50 tables in both black and off-white priced at £195 (high) and £175 (low) via our online shop from 4 September from 12pm UK time. All tables sold out within 4 hours.
